Morningstar Returns, Refunds, and General Policy

At Morningstar, we are committed to providing high-quality products and excellent customer service. Below you will find our comprehensive policies, including turnaround times, returns, refunds, and artwork approval processes. Please review these carefully to ensure a smooth collaboration with our team.

Standard Turnaround Time

  • Our standard turnaround time is 10 business days from the time you approve your artwork and provide size and style breakdowns. The turnaround time starts once the “Approve” button is clicked on the digital mockup. Please note, if you receive a quote and it takes 48 hours to approve, your turnaround time will begin once the approve button is hit.
  • Specialty printing methods or services may require extra time. Please notify us of any strict deadlines when requesting a quote. Rush fees will apply if an order is needed sooner than the standard turnaround time (please see our Rush Orders section).
  • Rush Orders: We offer expedited production with a rush fee based on the number of days required before the standard turnaround time (see Rush Orders section for fee schedule).
  • We are not responsible for delays caused by vendor shortages, shipping errors, or weather conditions. However, we will communicate any issues and work to find solutions with you. Our goal is collaborate and create with our customers, so we will do our best to communicate these issues with you in advance, and problem solve with you so that we can create some cool t-shirts together!
 
 


New Art Turnaround Time

  • New artwork has a turnaround time of 5 business days after all necessary information and payment is received. This includes initial creation and 2 revisions. Any additional changes beyond 2 revisions will incur a $60/hour charge.
  • Customers are encouraged to provide clear inspiration, specific color palettes, and high-resolution logos (300 DPI or greater).
  • Morningstar is not responsible for low-quality artwork files provided by customers.
  • If you are creating a t-shirt for an event that requires sponsor logos to be printed, please provide all sponsoring company logos in a digital format with your quote request. We recommend you provide logos in a 1-color format, in high resolution (300 DPI or greater at the physical dimensions), and in an Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop or JPEG. We are not responsible for printing files that were provided at low quality. It is not the responsibility of Morningstar to search for any logos you require.
 

 

Payment Terms

  • Full payment is due after digital mockups, styles, and sizes are approved.
  • New artwork services require a base fee of $60 for 1 hour of art time. Additional artwork time will be charged at $60/hour. A goodwill estimate will be generated as to the creative process time and production it will take to create new artwork.
  • Customers with Net Terms agreements must pay by check, cash, or money order, with payment due upon order completion.
 
 

 

Out of Stock/Clearance Items

  • Morningstar does NOT stock inventory. We order products specific to your needs from vendors. We are not responsible for out-of-stock or clearance items but will work to find replacements and communicate with you for approval.
 

 

Manufacturer Defects

  • Morningstar is NOT responsible for manufacturer defects, which may include color inconsistencies, mislabeled sizes, or stitching issues. We inspect garments before printing, but some defects may go unnoticed.
  • Recommendation: We advise ordering 5% extra for each size to account for potential manufacturer defects.
 

 

Garment Subjectivity

  • Morningstar is not responsible if you are unsatisfied with the garment style or fit after production. We encourage customers to research and review manufacturer size specs before ordering. For fit concerns, we recommend purchasing samples, which are nonrefundable.
 

 

Sample Policy

  • Blank Samples: Available for purchase at full retail price, limited to 5 pieces. Sample orders may delay the production timeline.
  • Printed Samples: $100 for the first color and $50 for each additional color or location. A full credit for the sample cost is available if a full production order is placed within 10 business days. The artwork and setup must remain the same.
  • ***Additional locations are considered additional colors.*** You will receive 3 physical printed samples. If artwork needs to be separated, created, or touched up, it will be subject to art charges at the current rate $15/color for standard vector art and $35/color for simulated process separations. Art does not count towards the sample order value for credit purposes and will not be credited back towards the full production run.
 

 

Artwork Creation and Ownership

  • New artwork created by Morningstar remains our property. The customer may purchase the rights to the artwork, starting at $500 per design.
  • Submitted artwork remains the customer’s property. We will not reproduce your artwork without permission. Your artwork may be used for marketing and promotional purposes to highlight the great quality we provide our customers. If you prefer us to not do this you must state this in your order request.
  • Art Approvals: Digital mockups will be provided for review. Customers are responsible for verifying accuracy. Morningstar is not liable for errors or color discrepancies once approved.
  • If you need specific colors for your design, we work from the Pantone Coated Matching System and we suggest you provide a specific pantone number (from the PMS Coated book) so that we may match it. Some PMS numbers may not be available due to the rate at which new formulas are created within our mixing system. Pantone creates new colors every year and mixology is not always readily available. We do work to mix our own formulas to keep up with the demand of colors available and suggest you request a printed sample. Please review the printed sample policy above. 
  • Once you have reviewed your order, you must approve the quote and the artwork via our digital system. By approving the quote you are acknowledging that the artwork is correct as well as the sizes and quantities.
 
 

 

Ink Matching

  • Pantone matching is unavailable for water-based/discharge screen printing. Ink colors will approximate Pantone selections. For exact matching, we recommend plastisol or polyester inks. We highly recommend purchasing a printed sample for confirmation prior to placing your bulk order.
 

 

Rush Orders

  • Rush orders are orders that have an in hand date sooner than our standard turnaround time, and such orders are subject to rush fees. Rush fees are based on a percentage schedule which is applied to your final invoice. For example if you need an in hand date of 5 days sooner than our standard turnaround time, then 50% of your total invoice will be added to your invoice as a rush fee. This fee covers the additional hours we may need to run your order and any rush fees we may incur from our vendors. Rush orders are still subject to the same under run allowances, and the rush time frame only relates to our current production time. Morningstar will not be held responsible for any shipping issues that may occur and cause customers to miss deadlines.
  • Rush orders are subject to the following fees:
    • 1 Day: 10% of the total invoice
    • 2 Days: 20%
    • 3 Days: 30%
    • 4 Days: 40%
    • 5 Days: 50%
    • 6 Days: 60%
    • 7 Days: 70%
    • 8 Days: 80%
    • 9 Days: 90%
    • 10 Days: 100%
  • Morningstar will not be responsible for shipping delays on rush orders.
 

 

Under Run Allowance

  • Each order is customized and printed specifically for you, and various factors can impact the success of the production process, such as screen malfunctions, vendor issues like garments with defects, or occasional printing errors. We account for a reasonable margin of error in production. Therefore, if an order falls within our acceptable underrun allowance, it will be considered satisfactory.

  • Due to various factors, orders may result in slight underproduction. We allow for a 4% underrun for plastisol and water-based orders.
  • The final invoice will reflect the actual quantity delivered. If the total quantity is less than ordered, the price per item will remain the same, even if it drops below price break quantities.
  • ****Contract Printing**** This under allowance is figured by the number of impressions for an order not by the pieces.
 

 

Returns, Refunds, and Exchanges

  1. Eligibility for Returns & Exchanges

    • Returns are only accepted for manufacturer defects or production mistakes. We do not accept returns based on personal dissatisfaction with the product (e.g., size, color, or fit).
    • Returns are only considered if production mistakes or manufacturer defects (e.g., incorrect dimensions or placements beyond 0.25 inches) are present.
  2. Conditions for Returns

    • Items must be unused, unworn, and returned in their original packaging.
    • All returns must be initiated within 14 days of receiving the product. Any notifications beyond this period will not be accepted.
  3. Return Process

    • To initiate a return, email tshirts@morningstartshirts.com with your invoice number, contact information, and images of the defective product.
    • If the return is approved, a prepaid return label will be provided for defective items. The customer is responsible for returning the product within the notification period. We are not liable for lost or delayed items during return shipping.
  4. Refunds, Store Credit, or Replacement

    • Upon review, we will offer a refund, store credit, or replacement. The customer may request their preferred resolution, but we cannot guarantee replacements for discontinued or unavailable items.
  5. Processing Times

    • Refunds may take 2-3 weeks to process due to bank/credit card systems. Store credit will be applied within 5 business days.
    • Allow 5-10 business days for the processing of returned items once received at our facility.
  6. Restocking Fees

    • A baseline 35% restocking fee applies to all blank, undecorated items returned prior to production. However, some vendors require a higher percentage restocking fee that will be passed on to the customer. We are not always able to determine this percentage of restocking fee without putting a claim in with our vendor at which point the customer will be notified.
